Sexuality is an important dimension of client health, and central to their health care experience. This training event goes beyond the basics of sexuality to support health care providers and clinic staff in their work fostering a safer and more inclusive environment for diverse sexual and gender identities. Participants will learn and practice sex-positive communication skills that support authentic relationship building, while learning how to audit and enhance their physical space, program plans and policies to support change within their organization.

  • Sex Positivity and Client Centred Approaches
  • Creating a Welcoming Space
  • Communicating About Sexuality: Language Tools
  • Inclusive Sexual Health Assessments and Intake Processes
  • Sexuality and Case Management / Treatment Planning
  • Policy and Program Considerations
  • Resources and Referrals

IDEAL FOR: Health care professionals including: nurses, nurse practitioners, doctors, physicians assistants, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, clerks, administrative support and human resources staff, any service provider interested in inclusive health care practice and students in the social sciences, humanities and related human service fields.

CERTIFICATION: Participants will receive a certificate of completion worth 6.0 Hrs. that can be applied to continuing competency programs for various professional regulating bodies.

COST: $100.00 Regular / $75.00 Student Rate. Includes snacks, coffee/tea and lunch. Limited free parking available on site. Please indicate dietary needs on registration form.
