Think back to the lessons you learned about sexuality: who taught you? Where and when did it take place?
You might have received your sexuality education in school like the majority of adults today– before smartphones, social media, and increased access to sexually explicit media. It was likely before the #MeToo movement, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and the shift towards a society that celebrates sexual and gender diversity.

While some teachers, parents and caregivers are getting it right, unfortunately,
the vast majority of sexuality education that children and youth receive is from the internet, social media, peers and other often unreliable sources.
This can lead to misinformation, confusion and even shame about a healthy and important part of our lives.

SERC’s approach goes beyond prevention, addressing the many parts of sexual and reproductive health, including consent, sexual and gender identity, relationships, culture, and values.

“SERC is ‘it’ for sexuality education,
the services are well-known and are respected with stakeholders.
The competent staff are responsive to the needs of the community.”

Host a Third-Party Fundraiser

Click to learn how to support SERC through a fundraiser of your own

Are you looking for ways to support access to sexual health resources in Manitoba? Consider hosting a third-party fundraiser in support of SERC!

Your next event could help us deliver accessible, culturally sensitive, comprehensive sexuality education throughout Manitoba. When you host a third-party fundraiser, you collaborate with SERC to raise money supporting our sexual health programs and resources. This can be done through a small business promotional campaign, where a percentage of proceeds on a specific product is donated to SERC, or an event where a percentage of proceeds from ticket sales is donated to SERC.

For example. The Dock on Princess, in Brandon, MB, has donated the proceeds from their “Love is Love Cocktail” as a Pride month special.

We work with third-party supporters to ensure that the SERC brand is consistent, and we can cross-promote to ensure that your event or campaign is a success.

If you’re interested in hosting a third-party fundraiser, please read the Third-Party Fundraising Procedure and submit the Third-Party Fundraising Application to:

SERC, 2nd Floor, 167 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Attention: Co-Executive Directors.

Contribute to SERC’s Endowment Fund

Click to learn how to support SERC's long-term stability

There may be a time in which funding for vital, life-saving sexuality education and advocacy is reduced, or even disappears.  And if that happens, SERC’s Endowment Fund will ensure there is a steady, reliable source of income to help keep SERC on a solid, secure foundation.

By maintaining a consistent and predictable stream of income year over year, the Endowment Fund allows SERC to plan strategically for its future.  Held at The Winnipeg Foundation, the SERC Endowment Fund annually disburses the interest earned, providing a steady revenue stream for SERC’s operations.

Please make a gift to the SERC Endowment Fund and safeguard SERC’s future.  Your donation is crucial to providing lasting and continuing funding and helps ensure a healthy future for SERC and the Manitobans it supports.

Sometimes, humor makes uncomfortable subjects easier to talk about. That’s why we wrapped up 2023 with some fun. We launched a campaign in December of 2023 called #WrapItUpManitoba, where every donation made at the end of 2023 helped us roll a condom down a banana, and “wrapped it up”!

Throughout December, we posted updates on how much money we raised and how far down we rolled the condom down in hopes of reaching our goal of $4,000 by 2024.

By the end of 2023, we raised $3,790 and thanks to more generous donors, we hit our fundraising climax of $4,000 in January of 2024!

Thank you for making this campaign a success.

Image of a banana with a condom at the top tip of the banana. There are arrows pointing at different points on the banana, with dollar amounts; the banana is a thermometer for measuring the amount of money raised. The amounts of money on the thermometer are $1000, $2000, $3000, and $4000. There is text around the banana that says: Wrap up 2023 by donating today. #WrapItUpManitoba Visit SERC.MB.CA to donate. The background is green with colorful condom wrappers all over. There SERC logo is at the bottom.
