The Ethno-Racial Minority Youth Research Project came about because many service providers (professionals who work with immigrants) and the Government of Canada felt that there was not enough documented information about ethno-racial (visible) minority (immigrant) youth (1st & 2nd generation Canadians). So the people at SERC (Sexuality Education Resource Center) thought to themselves, “No one could be better to get this type of information than ethno-racial minority youth!” As a result this project was started, where ethno-racial minority youth were trained in research skills and went out into the communities of Winnipeg to interview their ERMY peers. Now we have the results of our research. Please read further to find out what ethno-racial minority youth have said about what it is like to grow up in Canada!
