What we found out...

How others see us
(Ethno-Racial Minority Status and Sexuality)

  • Stereotyping and discrimination may lead us to have friendships and relationships with youth from our own ethno-racial background.
  • Some of us spoke about gender (girl or guy) expectations related to being part of a minority group. For instance, females from certain communities were expected to only be "submissive" and some males were expected to date only Caucasian girls.
  • Due to these strongly pre-defined expectations of gender roles, dating preferences/available "dating market" and parental expectations, our experiences with sexuality can’t help but be affected.
