Teaching Sexuality: Facilitation Skills for Teachers and Youth Service Providers – Summer Institute

This specialized, two-day training event will prepare service providers who work directly with youth, and teachers responsible for human sexuality curricular learning outcomes, to integrate comprehensive sexuality education lessons and activities into their programs or classrooms. Participants will discuss and practice a number of activities that can be used immediately after the training. After the training there will be the option to purchase or download (for free) SERC’s Teaching Comprehensive Sexuality Education Kit. The Kit contains all the materials needed to teach the basics discussed during the training.

  • Educational Approaches to STIs, Birth Control, Safer Sexual Practices
  • Activities and Games for Teaching and Learning
  • Adolescent Identity Development and Healthy Sexuality
  • Social Media, Porn and Media Literacy
  • New Resources and Local Referrals

IDEAL FOR: Service providers who work with youth ages 12 and up in community or school settings, Grade 7, 9, and 10 teachers who are responsible for the Human Sexuality components of the MB curriculum, guidance counsellors, school social workers and other school staff, public health nurses who work in schools, program planners/developers interested in sexuality education for youth and students in the social sciences, humanities and related human service fields.

CERTIFICATION: Participants will receive a certificate of completion worth 12.0 Hrs. that can be applied to continuing competency programs for various professional regulating bodies.

COST: $150.00 Regular / $115.00 Student Rate for both days. SERC is committed to supporting sexuality education for students.
