Supporting diversity and promoting inclusion are essential components of working with people in culturally relevant and safe ways. This training event invites service providers to broaden their awareness and build capacity around Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two-Spirit and Queer (LGBT2SQ+) identities and experiences. Participants will explore their own comfort level with the topic while moving through interactive modules designed to increase awareness, knowledge and skills around the following topics:
- Sexuality Foundations
- Sexual Development
- Diversity in Sexuality: Sex, Gender and Sexual Orientation
- Privilege, Power and Oppression
- The LGBT2SQ+ Experience: Coming Out
- The Power of Language and Terminology
- Safer Spaces Guidelines
- Key Behaviours that Support Inclusion
- Policy Considerations
- Contemporary Influences
- Resources and Referrals
IDEAL FOR: Service providers from all sectors including: health care, education, social services, government, settlement services, justice and corrections, civil services, and students in the social sciences, humanities and related human service fields.
CERTIFICATION: Participants will receive a certificate of completion worth 6.0 Hrs. that can be applied to continuing competency programs for various professional regulating bodies.
