Why we decided to speak out

• Canada is a multicultural country, shaped by people of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
• Sexuality is a big topic that includes who, why, when, if and how we date.
• Sexuality related topics are especially important for youth because we are trying to figure out who we are and what we believe.
• The experiences we have now can affect our future positively or negatively.
• ERM youth have to deal with cultural influences from our families, and ethnic minority group and those of mainstream Canadian society.
• Trying to balance between cultures can be really tough for youth and our families.
• Until now no one has really talked openly about ERM youth experiences as it relates to parent-child conflict, sexuality and how of youth shape their identities.
