What we found out

Where we look for info

  • School-based sexuality education
o School provided basic, limited information on sexual and reproductive health.
o We did not pay much attention to the messages conveyed in school, because we couldn’t relate to them.
o There was a lack of connection between the messenger (teacher) and the person getting the message (student).
o Schools not talk about matters important to us youth, such as relationships.
  • Day-to-day contact with friends
o We feel more comfortable talking about sexuality with our partners (boyfriends or girlfriends) than with just friends.
o Our friends may give inaccurate or false information on sexuality
  • The media, more likely TV and the Internet.
  • We don’t hear about or go to local organizations or information services where we can get good information about sexuality.

This is how we cope ERMY needs and wants
