This free, half-day training opportunity will enhance your understanding of Female Circumcision (also known as Female Genital Cutting – FGC, or Female Genital Mutilation – FGM). This training is ideal for those working with immigrant and/or refugee women from communities where FGC is practiced.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Examine your own personal and cultural values related to women’s sexuality and FGC
• Become aware of the types of FGC along with possible health consequences
• Be able to identify strategies for responding in a culturally safe way to the issue of FGC

IDEAL FOR: Service providers who work with immigrant and newcomer women from FGC practicing communities, health care providers who work with newcomer and immigrant communities, social service workers and social workers who work with culturally diverse communities, and students in the social sciences, humanities and related human service fields.

CERTIFICATION: Participants will receive a certificate of completion worth 3.0 Hrs. that can be applied to continuing competency programs for various professional regulating bodies.
