Healthy sexuality is a key component of overall health and wellness for all people, including people labelled with an intellectual or developmental disability. This introductory training event will take a rights-based approach to understanding the complexities, challenges and issues with respect to sexuality, in organizations that support people who are a part of this community. This introduction aims to support growth in service providers looking to enhance their skills addressing and communicating about sexuality in their work.

- Consent, the Law and Rights-Based approaches to Sexuality Education
- Framework for Responding to Clients and Community
- Activities and Facilitation Tips
- Enhancing Environmental Supports
- Promising Practices and Evidence-based Approaches
- Resources and Referrals
IDEAL FOR: Service providers who work directly with people with developmental disabilities including: social workers, government and non-profit sector program planners and policy-makers, settlement services, mental health workers, health care workers in all areas and students in the social sciences, humanities and related human service fields.
CERTIFICATION: Participants will receive a certificate of completion worth 6.0 Hrs. that can be applied to continuing competency programs for various professional regulating bodies.
