Kal Barteski Partners with SERC MB to Raise Awareness About and Support YOUTH HEALTH EDUCATION

WINNIPEG, June 14, 2021 – Youth in Manitoba have had a very hard year and SERC MB is dedicated to supporting their health through comprehensive sexuality and health education. As we wrap up this school and year and look ahead, we are acutely aware of the impacts of COVID-19 on Manitoba’s youth:

– Youth are dealing with increases in feelings of isolation and stress which have exacerbated mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, and disordered eating
– Our Youth Health Education programs have seen a two-fold increase in mental health workshops
– SERC is already receiving booking requests for the upcoming year at greater volumes than typical years

In support of Youth Health Education in Manitoba, Winnipeg-based local artist and advocate Kal Barteski has partnered with SERC to develop a campaign that promotes messages of wellness and strength while also raising crucial funds for our youth health education programs.

The campaign is sponsored by Westman Promotions of Progressive Westman in Brandon, MB, who has developed a webstore that will launch Monday, June 14th and will be open until August 31st.

Together, Kal Barteski, Progressive Westman and SERC MB are hoping to raise $10,000 for our youth health education programs. All proceeds will go directly to supporting education for youth!

Young Manitobans will learn healthy coping, relationship and communication skills while also accessing resources to support their health during this complex time.

“Many young people in Manitoba have been struggling over the last year, and despite our youth being courageous, resourceful, and resilient, we know that many have missed out on vital health education to support them as they grow. SERC MB is here to support youth in Manitoba with their health education needs.” – Jared Star, Co-Executive Director, Sexuality Education Resource Centre MB Inc.
